The Odisha Milk Farmer’s Association on Friday push for House Committee on MSP (minimum support price) led by assembly speaker Pradip Kumar Amat to provide Rs 30 per liter of milk to dairy farmer in the place of the present Rs. 26.10.
The Omfed (Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation) now pay the farmers Rs.26.10 per litre of standard milk while it sells the products to consumers between Rs. 34 and 40 (Two types). A delegation of the Association led by its President Rabi behera met Amat and discussed with him about the plight of milk farmers of the state.
Omfed, a state -level cooperative milk producers Federation increased price of toned and premium milk for consumers, but forgot to revise price of farmer. He said the Omfed increased the price of cattle feed from Rs. 19 to 21 per kg last year. Behera said that the State Government should decreased the rate of cattle feed. He assured upto take up the case with the state government.
